Top tips on how to win the lottery with Lottoland

ad – collaboration with Lottoland

Like most people I’d love to win the lottery and often dream of the day my winning numbers come up. The odds of winning the jackpot on the lottery is fairly slim with the UK Lotto odds of a jackpot of 1 in 45,057,474, so it’s important you maximise your chances of winning where you can. I’ve teamed up with Lottoland to give you the essential tips on how to win the lottery (whether that’s a small or big prize). Lottland is a lottery site that lets you take part in lotteries all over the world from the Irish Lotto to the Power Ball.

Go for games with lots of prizes

If you like winning and you’re fairly content with even a small prize, the National Lottery is perfect. With two balls winning you a lucky dip, and 3 getting you £30.00, you can still be a winner even if you don’t hit the jackpot.

Try not to to go for really popular numbers

Can you imagine the excitement of seeing all your numbers popping up – then going to claim and finding out the prize was much less then you believed the jackpot should be. Yes that can, and often does happen for winning draws with numbers that are used by lots of people. Whilst going for less popular numbers will mean you won’t win as often, the prize you will get should be a lot larger.

Make sure you set a budget

Lotteries can be fun and we all dream of that day we will get that winning ticket. However like any draw where you have to pay to enter, you should moderate how much you’re spending. It is unlikely you’ll hit the jackpot so spending a lot more then you can afford is really not worth it. Keep it fun and enjoy the excitement whilst waiting for your numbers to come up.

Choose the game that has better odds

Like all lotteries, some have a better chance of winning then others. Lotteries like the Irish Lottery has odds of just 1 in 29 of winning a prize whilst the US Mega Millions draw has odds of 1 in 39 for winning any prize. Remember the more numbers you have to pick and the bigger the jackpot, the slimmer chance you have of winning big.

Play draws with smaller prizes

Big draws like the Euro Millions and the US Power Ball are the ones that get the most entries as they have the biggest prizes. After all who doesn’t dream of how they’ll be spending their millions when they win. If you enter draws for smaller lotteries with smaller prizes, less people will be interested and you will have a better chance of winning. One fantastic example of this is the Health Lottery, priced at just £1.00 a ticket, and odds of 1 in 2,118,760 of winning the jackpot (normally around £500k).

Don’t forget to buy your ticket!

Can you imagine how awful you’d feel if, for whatever reason you forgot to buy a ticket and your numbers come up. Don’t take that risk, set up a Direct Debit so you can ensure your numbers are always in the draw. Alternatively if you can’t set up a Direct Debit, make sure you set a reminder in your phone or on your computer so that you always remember to buy your tickets.

Take part in a syndicate

If you take part in a lottery syndicate of at least 10 people you’ll have odds of 1 in 13,983,816 of winning the jackpot in comparison to just 1 in 139,838,160 on your own (based on 7 numbers correctly being drawn). Whilst the prize you get may be a lot smaller then it would be on your own for a relatively small win, if your syndicate does happen to get lucky and hit the jackpot you’ll be in the money.

Go for the lucky dip

I’ve probably won more on lucky dips, then I’ve ever won picking my own numbers. Often when we pick our own numbers we go for predictable combinations like birthdays, anniversaries and ages and we have to rely on these numbers coming up in the draw. If you go random you’re getting different numbers on each draw which are more likely to get picked, because we all know lotteries can be incredibly random. You also won’t have the worry of your numbers coming up if you did forget to buy a ticket as well!

Lottoland has 28 lottery draws for you to try your luck at winning the lottery. You’re not tied into any subscriptions and you can play whenever you’re feeling lucky.
