The launch of ‘The Hub’
New to the village of Huntingfield is the brand new village hall, named The Hub, which serves the three villages of Huntingfield, Ubbeston and Heveningham.
The Bounce team popped along to the launch on St George’s day to check out the brand new facilities The Hub has to offer.
Many of the local villagers turned up to celebrate the launch. Wine was kindly provided by Halesworth Co-op and a buffet, prepared by Steve and Sara at The Huntingfield Arms.
The much loved old hut has now gone, it had been the centre of the village since 1921, however as you can imagine after all that time the hut stood on its last legs.
However don’t fear, it now has a new home in Hawstead near Bury St Edmunds and will be the focal exhibit in a new First World War museum.
The Hub is a 21st century building with excellent acoustics, under floor heating and a commercial kitchen and can hold up to 80 people.
It offers a 100 square metre main hall together with a meeting room as well as outdoor facilities including a children’s play area.
The Millennium Green with a wildflower meadow and a Petangue pitch and huge open play area adjoins the hall, while just across the road sits The Huntingfield Arms, renowned for its great food! Plus it is dog friendly which makes dining out special for all members of the family!
Events at The Hub will include courses, craft clubs, table tennis clubs, Yoga and Pilates classes, plus much more. A youth club will also be held once a week for the younger members of the community.
The building itself was designed by Lucy Hardingham Mobbs and funding was given by the Big Lottery together with Viridor Credits and many small donators.
The committee have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and we would like to wish them the best of luck moving forward. Well done on all of your hard work!
