Good news visitors of Norwich… you’re favourite coastal bakery, Two Magpies, has now spread its wings into the city residing at its new premises on Timberhill.
After opening three branches in Suffolk, in Southwold, Aldeburgh and Darsham, they’ve now taken on their newest bakery cafe.
We popped along to check it out – here’s what we thought.
“Opposing the back entrance of Castle Mall, I spotted a cue forming, always the good sign of a popular lunch destination.
We grabbed a seat in the relaxed cafe style seating area and browsed the menu, with offerings of breakfast (served until 11), brunch and light bites the menu is full of local produce including Huntingfield Eggs and of course their freshly baked offerings.
It has been created with the bakery’s existing customers in mind, and they have been specially developing new recipes, including praline palmiers and a Moroccan roll made with vegan puff pastry.
We started off our magpie experience with a soya cappuccino, the coffee fix was just what I needed after pushing our six month old Leo around the city!
After much deliberation, I selected the Avocado on Sough Dough Toast with ‘Tumbled’ Eggs. I LOVE that they are not scrambled but tumbled – it sounds so much more classy! The layers piled up high and everything cooked to perfection.
My husband ordered the Fishfinger Sandwich on Sough Dough, he usually lets me have a sneaky bite but he didn’t on this occasion – so I know it must have been a good one!
Both dishes arrived super quick and the quality of the ingredients stood out.
The best part about being in a bakery was that we could eye up all of the tasty sweet treats.
The magpie in me eyed up the Raspberry Bakewell, which was moist and delicious – whist my husband was the envy of his colleagues, taking back one of the Dark Chocolate Brownies to his office.
We had a lovely lunch, even Leo slept through, allowing us to have the much needed rest bite we were hoping for. We will definitely be regular visitors here!”
Customers can expect the same impeccable Two Magpies service at the new branch, with all bread and pastry being prepared and cooked on site.
