Let’s get ready to rumble…

Let’s get ready to rumble…

This month Action Man steps into the ring with professional mix martial artist

Arnold, who hails from Felixstowe, at just 21 years old, is already a full time MMA fighter with a record of 10-1 with his latest bout being an outstanding win by submission in the UFC.

The critics who weren’t already talking about Allen certainly are now with the young Suffolk man set to go very far indeed.

So I caught up with ‘Almighty’ at his base with BKK Fighters in Colchester for my first taste of MMA and to find out how Arnold started and what’s next.

It started from a very young age from wrestling his brother to training with his father, strongman turned MMA fighter, Pacer Allen. Arnold’s love for the sport grew rapidly as did his skill level which saw him turn professional at the age of just 18. With string of very impressive fights and victories he was pushing for a UFC fight and there was no hesitation in accepting the offer when the call came in despite having only 1 weeks’ notice to fight at UFC 69 in Berlin. His opponent was German based Alan Omer who had a record of 18-4 including 12 first round finishes, a formidable record but Allen lived up to his ‘Almighty’ billing by forcing the submission by guillotine choke in the third round.

As the forth youngest fighter on the UFC roster time is on Arnold’s side but he is already keen to push on and is planning on a trip to the States to team up with MMA group Team Alpha Male for a month on intense training.

It’ll take a few fights for him to work his way up the rankings and push for a title shot but do not be at all surprised if you see a UFC title bouncing its way across the pond following Bruce Buffer’s announcement “and the NEW…”

Keen to try out some MMA? Want to learn from and train with the best? Well you can!

Arnold trains and teaches at BKK fighters on Spurgeon St, Colchester ( which has an MMA class starting at 1830hrs every weekday evening this is also followed with a Brazilian Jujitsu, Muay Thai or boxing session.

Don’t worry about going toe to toe with the pros all classes are suitable and open to beginners, they welcome some fresh meat! Action Man sparred with Arnold in his class and it’s fairly safe to say that my UFC call up won’t be coming any time soon! But it was a great session, I learnt a lot and will definitely be back there soon. MMA at BKK is A-OK!
