Go camping at Haw Wood Farm…
Whether you are a Camper, Caravaner, you have a modern Motorhome or a retro Campervan there is something to suit everyone at Haw Wood Farm.
As keen Campers ourselves, and with the hottest day of the year in sight, we headed on over to the country campsite situated just off the A12, to check out their award-winning facilities.
Working closely with the David Bellamy Award scheme, Haw Wood Farm does everything it can to conserve water, minimize waste, reduce energy consumption, protect wildlife and habitats and support the local community.
Upon arrival we received a warm greeting at reception from owners Dan and Georgina, and being so environmentally friendly, it was no surprise when we saw them both hopping on bikes to guide people to their pitches.
As the campsite is dog friendly, joining us on this occasion was our Norfolk Terrier Archie, who was just delighted that our pitch was situated right beside the dedicated dog walking meadow. Here you can let your four legged friend off the lead and walk across mowed paths through the long wild grasses.
Near to here is the Wild Flower trail, perfect entertainment for kids and adults alike. You will find a lot of flowers on around, being a bee friendly site! They also have their own beehives, you can even buy the honey in the well-stocked shop which stocks all of the essentials for your camping trip as well as some tasty treats to make you feel you are on holiday!
With the tent built and Archie settled, we enjoyed a glass of wine as we watched the sunset across the fields. After an early night on day one, we decided to head to Dunwich Beach for the day, just a few miles down the road. Here you can visit the museum of the Lost City, enjoy a walk through the ruins or like us have a swim in the sea, but with this comes lots of sand… Not to fear, Haw Wood Farm opened luxurious modern and platinum award winning facilities in the Spring of 2015, so taking a shower upon our return was like being home from home.
As we were having such a lovely time, we invited our friends for a BBQ, there was one issue, not enough food… But again Haw Wood have it covered with their convenient little shop.
If you don’t fancy cooking, during high season the on site cafe serves cooked breakfasts, offers lunch including Panini’s and Pies, Afternoon Tea and occasional evening meals all made on site, which you can take away or enjoy either on the patio or in the warmth of the indoor seating area.
We enjoyed it so much here we are hoping to bring more friends back for an upcoming birthday. If you love nature, camping and watching those Suffolk skies, Haw Wood Farm is definitely the place for you.
