Review: Balance Box

Delivery services take the hassle out of food budgeting, planning, and preparing, (not to mention all the washing up of pots and pans).

As a busy working mum to a two-year-old and being six months pregnant, my time is limited when it comes to creating interesting and healthy vegetarian meals for my husband and myself.

I was really excited to be given the opportunity to trial Balance Box for a week. The plans are designed by to give you a nourishing and balanced diet which is portion controlled.

Meals are delivered to your door in packaged individual pots, all labelled with days and mealtimes, perfect for those with busy lifestyles.

You also get a menu inside the box, with details of which meals should be heated and the ingredients used in all the dishes.

Breakfast can be eaten straight out of the pot, ideal for those who must leave the house early and most of the lunches are served chilled so no need for microwaves. Dinners are a little more substantial and are certainly more exciting than something I could come up with at the end of a full-on day.

As well as being utterly delicious, Balance Box meals don’t contain refined carbohydrates, refined sugars, unnecessary additives, or preservatives, meaning that the diet food delivered to your home is as healthy and natural as possible. So, no MSG hits here!

A typical day could include dishes such as Red Pepper Pesto & Sundried Tomato Tofu Salad served with Mediterranean Vegetables and Tandoori Spiced Halloumi, Bombay Cauliflower with a Yoghurt & Rose Harissa Dressing.

A key thing for my husband is portion control, he always overcooks and ends up eating double the amount of food. Balance Box’s meal plans are designed to keep you full without overeating, so ideal for anyone who wants to eat yummy healthy food without using the term diet.

Balance Box offers two different portion sizes depending on whether you want a balanced meal of 1800 calories, or if you’re planning to lose weight with their ‘lighter’ option of 1200 calories.

There are also four types of menus to choose from classic, vegetarian, pescatarian and free from, which has no meat, fish, gluten or dairy from cows.

After my week trial with Balance Box – I have to confess I am sad to have to start prepping and cooking my own meals again, as this meal delivery service really does do all the hard work for you!
