PO.P Second Hand Launches

Ethical children’s clothing brand further reinforces its sustainable offering.

Polarn O. Pyret is proud to announce the arrival of its Second Hand Service, putting the brand yet another step closer to closing its leading circular fashion model, further strengthening its eco credentials and firmly cementing the brands unrivalled commitment to the planet.

Determined to reduce the 350,000 tonnes of clothing that make it to landfill every year, PO.P is excited by the latest development. Bearing in mind that an increase of 10% in second hand sales could save 3% Carbon, 4% water & 1% waste, per tonne of clothing, the new initiative is truly important.

The new service, which is available across the UK, welcomes customers to return outgrown children’s outerwear such as coats, waterproofs and snow overalls in exchange for a cash voucher. Each returned item will be assessed and re-sold at special pre-loved events throughout the year in store and online.

PO.P Second Hand will minimise the hassle of selling items online. It couldn’t be easier to use and with free postage through the returns service it won’t cost a penny.  Customers simply need to email the brand with images and info of what they wish to return, and they will progress the request.

Speaking about their latest sustainability initiative Mats Nilsson, Polarn O. Pyret’s UK Managing Director said:

“PO.P has led the way for sustainable kidswear for decades, with organic fabrics being introduced as early as the ‘80’s, now making up 100% of our cotton offer.  Providing an easy access re-sale service to our UK customers prolongs the lifespan of our products and decreases our common environmental footprint. Our planet goes round and round, and so should our clothes”

The brand plans to extend the PO.P Second Hand service to include collection and cotton garments as soon as next year.

Since 1976, PO.P have been committed to making high-quality clothes that last a long time, so they can be worn by as many children as possible. Nilsson states “60% of our clothes are used by 3 or more different children”. The brand is famous for designing comfortable clothes that are durable and have features such as roll-down cuffs to make them last. Extending the life of clothes by just 9 months of active use can reduce carbon, water and waste footprints by over 30%.

In addition to the Second Hand service, PO.P Repairs is also offered as a free service to fix zips and broken poppers.  Reducing consumption is a key objective at PO.P; clothes are designed to be loved, worn and then handed down, time & time again.

PO.P have also joined the rental market by partnering with The Little Loop, offering clothing and outerwear for all seasons.
