NEW: Baby Massage at Henham Park, Suffolk

Coming this January is a new Baby Massage course starting at Henham Park.

The Sun & Moon Baby Massage Course will enable you to embark on a fantastic new and wonderful journey with your baby.

The course is run by Laura Dickerson, a fully qualified Paediatric Nurse. Laura has been working in Neonatal Intensive Care for the past 5 years.

“I have a huge passion for babies, and their development, which has led to do my training to become a qualified infant massage instructor. I have seen the incredible benefits of baby massage and nurturing touch through my work; such as improving brain development, reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep, easing colic and tummy pains, and promoting a loving bond – releasing oxytocin through attachment and being calm”, says Laura.

What to expect in class:

The course is 5 weeks long, and every week you will learn a different massage technique. These techniques will encourage and strengthen the beautiful bond you have with your baby, learning how to communicate through touch and massage in a space in which you can both relax. During each massage session Laura will lead you through guided mindfulness and relaxation and then demonstrate the massage strokes for you to practice on your baby. Each week the class will focus on a different part of the body, as well as a recap of previous techniques that have been learnt.

The course includes:

  • Massage for legs, feet, stomach, chest, arms, hands, face and back.
  • A colic routine, to relieve wind and constipation.
  • Gentle yoga movements and touch relaxation.
  • Guided mindfulness
  • Sensory play
  • Advice on the best time, and for how long to massage.
  • Information on which oil to use.
  • How to adapt the strokes for your individual babies needs.

Massage oils, mats, towels, wipes, parent handouts and toys for babies are all included – so you just need to bring yourselves and your beautiful babies!

Please note: This is a loving, nurturing space. Classes are completely baby led and nurturing. As a cue based programme the class encourages you to recognise your babies needs through. You can feed, change or cuddle your baby at any point throughout the class.
