Merchant Gourmet – the leading pulses and grains brand – has launched a NEW range of delicious, vegan Plant Jars® into supermarkets nationwide (RPP £3.50 per 330g jar).
Its latest development, Plant Jars®, takes the humble lentil and turns it into something special. Packed full of big bold flavours, the colourful jars can be enjoyed with rice, pasta, jackets or even on their own for a plant-powered meal that’s ready in minutes.
Launching in three distinct flavours, each chef-developed recipe combines protein-packed lentils with other pulses and vegetables in a rich sauce flavoured with herbs and spices. Inspired by global flavours and cuisines, the new Plant Jars® offer all the taste, texture and satisfaction of the nation’s favourite dishes, but without the meat.

Rich Puy Lentil Bolognese with Porcini Mushrooms
Puy and green lentils have been cooked in a rich tomato sauce with Porcini mushrooms, SunBlush® tomatoes, oregano and roast garlic for a plant-based twist on the much-loved classic. Simply serve with spaghetti and let the flavours whisk you away to the terrazza of an Italian ristorante.
Spicy Lentil Chilli with Black Beans & Corn
Feel the heat with this spicy and smoky Chilli. Protein-rich lentils, black beans, sweetcorn and red peppers have been cooked in a tomato sauce flavoured with fiery red chilli, smoked paprika and cumin. Perfect with rice or poured on top of a mound of nachos.
Fragrant Lentil Madras Curry with Chickpeas & Squash
One of the nation’s favourites and a takeaway classic – but with lentils, chickpeas and butternut squash, this plant-based version is better for you and the planet. A Madras base blends with ginger, tamarind and roast garlic to make a warming curry with a bit of a kick. Best enjoyed with pilau rice or naan breads.
