Beccles Lido re-opens…
Beccles Lido Limited is a community run charity who bought the Lido on Puddingmoor in Beccles from Waveney District Council when they closed it in 2008, and re-opened it in 2010.
In total they have invested over £350,000 raised through fund raising events, a Lottery, donations and grants in the restoration of the pool and improvements and new facilities.
In addition to restoring the 1 metre springboard, the Lido also has a slide, giant inflatable aquarun, and new for 2016 outdoor exercise equipment and a kiddies adventure play area.
There are lots of grassy areas, sunloungers, tables and chairs to relax on as well as an all-weather eating and spectating area. By the River Waveney, the Lido’s café serves hot and cold snacks, drinks and ices and is perfect for a swim or a family day out.
Canoe Hire is also offered (advance bookings only – please call 0845 4969177 or visit www.thecanoeman.com/beccles.php). Or you could take a river trip on Big Dog Ferry, which the Lido also owns, to the historic Locks Inn at Geldeston (please visit www.BigDogFerry.co.uk or call 07532 072761 for details).
The Lido is managed by volunteers and relies on fund raising to supplement admission fees.
