A unique cook a long experience…

Being 20 weeks pregnant I am still rathe cautious about getting back out there after our third lockdown. Although being pregnant I am also craving some really delicious food, so when I was given the opportunity to review Your Fork’s ultimate night in experience I was incredibly excited.

How it works…

First of all you have to pick your menu. As we are a vegetarian household the menu by Great British Menu winner Ruth Hansom was ideal as it offered that option.

Menus offer prices to suit every budget and complexity to suit any cooking level, but each chef is limited to one month so if you want to grab Ruth’s menu – you’d better be quick!

You can add on little extras such a wine or cocktails to make your night in even more special.

Everything is delivered fresh to your door in fully recyclable and sustainably insulated packaging on the day that you choose. When it arrives unpack the box and put the bag labelled fridge in your fridge and the cupboard contents somewhere dry.

Then all you have to do is find some time to cook.

One additional touch I loved is that your box will come with two Your Fork aprons, so you can really feel like a chef in your own home.

The cooking process…

I wouldn’t call myself a chef, but I am capable in the kitchen. It is completely up to you whether you use the instructions provided or if you cook along with Ruth via the video.

The one thing I will stress before cooking is:

  1. Watch the handy instructional videos before cooking
  2. Allow plenty of time, I would suggest a weekend but start cooking about 4/5pm
  3. Some of the meals need at least 30 – 40 mins prep time so keep in mind you may need to roast your beetroot or potatoes before you even start to think about preparing the other components.

I really enjoyed getting all of the ingredients together and cooking with things I have never used such as Jerusalem Artichoke, Beetroot and making my own Gnocchi from scratch!

After this little medley of dishes I was sitting there pretty impressed with myself and better still my husband sat there thinking I should be on Masterchef!

I really enjoyed this experience by Your Fork and although I couldn’t have my usual glass of wine, the food really was the star of the show.
