7 tips on how to work from home…
Life over the past year has become increasingly difficult, covid-19 has changed everything forcing us into new ways of living and working.
If you are someone who now has to work from home, as well as coming with perks such as saving on fuel, never being late to work and wearing what you like from the waist down, it also comes with its own challenges.
Alongside stress, anxiety and fear of the unknown, many of us are juggling our work with childcare, boredom and cramped spaces.
House of Heever have come up with 7 tips to help you develop your career from home.
Set a routine
Keeping a work/life balance is difficult at the best of times. Make sure you have a start and an end time and still take a lunch break. If you used to commute why not replace this with some exercise or reading a book, then log on at the appropriate times. Just because you are working from home it doesn’t mean you have to work all the time.
Make a dedicated workspace
How many distractions do you have in your home? The TV, a noisy washing machine? Try to create a space where you have everything you need in one place out of the way of distractions, no matter how minor they seem. If you don’t have a desk or a workspace, make sure you are supported in your chair or use a footrest, your health is still important.
Give yourself a break
Did you know that short breaks can actually help productivity? It is important to recognise that just because you are working from home it doesn’t mean you are available all the time, working like this could severely affect your mental health. Some light exercise could benefit as you may be spending less time moving around.
Not going into the office, you may feel isolated. In and out of work interaction is so important so don’t forget to talk to friends, family and colleagues. Make time to talk even if it is just virtually.
Communicating with other family members at this time is key to being able to work from home successfully. Have a chat about your needs with your family and set a schedule. Remind them than you still have work to do. Also set boundaries with work, it’s so easy to put more time into finishing a project that eats into your personal time, so be mindful.
Invest in the right equipment
