For over 15 years Wizard Balloon Flights have flown more than 10,000 passengers across East Anglia.
As a family run business they pride themselves in their friendly and personal service making each hot air balloon ride one to remember.
What better gift than to treat someone you love to a hot air balloon flight.
Bounce Magazine were kindly invited along for the ride of our lives, here is what we thought…
“When we arrived at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds, I have to admit I wasn’t really sure what to expect?
I had a worrying feeling in the pit of my tummy that once I was up in the air I would suddenly look down feel afraid of heights! However you’ll be pleased to hear it wasn’t the case at all!
Ben Pettitt, owner of Wizard Balloons, warmly greeted us at the park, he also happened to be our pilot for the evening. Upon arrival, he briefed us about the set up of the balloon (which we were allowed to help with) and other safety procedures including how to stand when landing.
Then it was time for the fun part… the inflation method commenced. This entailed two people using large fans to blow cold air into the balloon, whilst Sam and Ben guided the top by holding the lines.
It took around ten minutes to fill and another ten to heat. Once complete all of the passengers climbed on board. Before anyone had even realised, we were floating up, up and away.
Once airborne, it was amazing to see how much countryside and farmland surrounds Bury St Edmunds, its not often you get to obtain a Birdseye view of the surrounding areas.
We travelled down towards the Long Melford area past houses and fields. During this time we enjoyed taking photos of the panoramic views, waving to people below, chatting amongst ourselves, asking questions and enjoying the relaxing sensation of floating above the ground.
Our flight lasted around an hour although because we enjoyed it so much time flew by.
As we touched down on an open field there seemed a sense of fulfilment from everyone. As we all chipped in to fold the balloon away (including a ride off road in the basket) we finished up with a refreshing glass of bubbly and received our very own flight certificates.
In total the experience lasted between 3-4 hours, so what we thought was going to be just a balloon ride turned out to be an adventure and an experience, one of which we will remember for a long time. Bounce would like to say a big thank you to Ben for having us on board!”
