INKY RAMBLINGS – A poem by Hannah Williams

Give breath to my inky ramblings

Breathe into them muscle and bone,

Seep into the core of their being

Stained with sun-kissed meadows

And star-lit glades,

A labyrinth of wistful silence

Crashing into a roar of vibrant paintings

Which squeezes the readers heart,

Whilst beads of anguish or relief

Roll past starry eyes.

Give breath to my inky ramblings,

So they flutter from crackling paper

Like butterflies, they swirl

Around the engrossed reader

And there they paint bloody battles

And roads that journey forever on,

Until the last page turned

Last word breathlessly spoken

Wherein they give a kiss as sweet as nectar,

Then shimmer back to empty pages

And are once again

Inky ramblings

Awaiting their breath of muscle and bone.
