The highly-anticipated official opening of The Northgate, a stylish new ‘house’ in the heart of Bury St Edmunds which offers an informal, relaxed space to eat, drink and stay is now taking bookings.
The Northgate’s ‘house’ concept is a first for East Anglia and the launch follows an extensive yet sympathetic renovation of a classic grand Victorian building.
It will be open all day, throughout the week, and includes a dining area, bar, heated terrace and parking.
Ten individually styled bedrooms will provide the perfect hub from which to explore the thriving town of Bury St Edmunds and further afield.
The menu will change throughout the day, showcasing the best regional produce and will be available to both residents and non-residents. Guests can enjoy breakfast, brunch and lunch, while in the evening, more refined dishes with modern European flavours, will be served. The ‘Chef’s Table’ in the heart of the kitchen offers a unique, special dining experience which will make the perfect setting to enjoy
The Northgate’s eight-course evening tasting menu. The Northgate will also offer an extensive drinks menu in the stylish lounge bar overlooking the large garden terrace.
Over the festive period, The Northgate will be open for lunch on Christmas Day and will also be serving a celebratory dinner with live entertainment on New Year’s Eve.
The Northgate is part of The Chestnut Group, a Suffolk-based company that owns and manages a growing portfolio of properties including the renowned Packhorse Inn near Newmarket.
Speaking ahead of the opening, Philip Turner, Founder and CEO of The Chestnut Group, said: “The concept of The Northgate ‘house’ is about creating an informal and relaxed space.
Anyone can pop in at any time of the day, be it for a swift drink, a light brunch before shopping in town, a leisurely lunch with friends or, for more of an occasion, cocktails and dinner”.
