Insight with Gerald Ratner AND NETWORKING BRUNCH – 10am-11.30am
Gerald Ratner took over as CEO of the family jewellery chain in the mid 1980’s, becoming one of Britain’s best-known businessmen.
He transformed it from 130 stores with sales of £13m, to a public company with 2,500 stores and sales of over £1.2bn.
Following a widely reported gaffe in which he compared his products to M&S prawn sandwiches, Gerald was forced to sell the business. Gerald will talk with typical candour about the rollercoaster journey and the valuable lessons learned.
Gerald Ratner’s talk will be followed by an invitation to the audience to join Gerald for a networking brunch on The Apex stage. The brunch canapes will be prepared and served by the catering and hospitality students from West Suffolk College.
Talking Heads – 1pm – 2pm
Broadcaster, Nick Pandolfi will be in conversation with Jesse Quin, bass guitarist of rock band, Keane and founder of the innovative Old Jet – an inspiring working environment for professionals working in the creative industries.
The building, at the ex U.S. Air Force base, Bentwaters, in Rendlesham is in an amazing location, surrounded by rusting fighter places, old aircraft hangers yet in the middle of beautiful Suffolk countryside.
He will be joined on the sofa by Jason Carter of HOAX the Suffolk clothing brand of which Ed Sheeran is the ambassador, the designer, Brie Harrison and Peter Hampel of new business, EdenLAB, who helped set up the Eden Project. They will discuss how to build a successful brand and an innovative business.
