We are thrilled that following last years inaugural festival this will now become an annual event for our vibrant market town and we can announce that this years festival will be formally opened by Richard Bainbridge, owner / chef of Benedict’s Norwich at 10.30 am in St Michael’s Church.
Richard, who won last years BBC Great British Menu, will then give a talk about his experiences when taking part in this prestigious competition as well as giving us an insight into setting up his new critically acclaimed restaurant.
Building on the strong foundations laid last year, this year’s food and drink festival will be bigger and better, allowing room for more stall holders and incorporating more activities for all the family, including a fun food treasure hunt.
We know that the festivals success is based on the excellence of our local food and drink heroes, the producers and businesses that thrive in this beautiful East Anglian region, and this year we hope to have up to 100 stalls.
We are especially proud that the festival showcases our beautiful town, Beccles, and the excellent independent shops and businesses located here.
The grazing trail acts as a guide to enable new visitors to the town to seek out these hidden gems and discover the quality produce and wonderful service that they provide.
It proved so popular last year that again we will have the horse and carts ferrying visitors from the main car park for the event located at the quay, to the very heart of the festival.
Throughout the day look out for the demonstrations, tutorials and tastings that will be held in The Public Hall and St Michael’s Church.
