Downsize your beauty bag…

Packing a compact eye shadow palette, multi-purpose products and just one lipstick are just some of the tricks to help you downsize your beauty bag.

Other tips include being specific with your makeup brushes, swapping cleanser and toner for cleansing wipes and travel-sizing your shampoo and conditioner. Here are a few of our favourites.

Use 3-in-1 facial makeup…

Purchase and pack a 3-in-1 product that’s a foundation, primer and face serum.

These types of products will save you having to pack each item separately, making it perfect for your beauty bag. You could also try a CC cream or tinted moisturiser if you prefer not to use a foundation.

Pack one lipstick or gloss…

Avoid packing a tonne of lipsticks and glosses that you might not even wear on your holiday, and instead, pack just one single lippy or gloss that will go with all your outfits. A bright red colour will add an extra touch of glamour to your evening looks, and will also compliment your tan perfectly. If red just isn’t the colour for you, try a bright orange or a brown tone.

Don’t put a huge eye shadow palette in your case...

Huge eyeshadow palettes will take up unnecessary space in your bag, and by packing your favourite one you will also be at high-risk of smashing it. Instead, pack a compact eye shadow palette that contains three neutral, shimmer colours. For an even lighter beauty bag, you could also try purchasing one which has a brown/black matte tone which you can use for your eyebrows, to save you having to pack your eyebrow kit as well.

Use travel-sized makeup brushes…

Instead of packing all your makeup brushes in your, use a couple of travel-sized brushes that you can use with multiple products. Pack a travel-sized foundation or stippling brush for your foundation and liquid illuminator, a powder/blush brush for bronzer/powder and one eyeshadow brush for eye makeup. If you prefer using blending sponges to brushes for foundation, be sure to pack one as you can use these for multiple products and they weigh far less than a brush.

Swap cleanser and toner for cleansing makeup wipes...

The makeup wipes will get rid of your makeup whilst also refreshing your skin (but just remember to exfoliate and moisturise after).

Use multi-purpose products…

The perfect way to downsize your travel beauty bag is to either wear less makeup products or use multi-purpose ones. Some brands offer chubby makeup sticks which you can use as a blush, eyeshadow and a lipstick. Sort through your makeup bag before your flight to work out if there’s anything you could multi-use and anything that you don’t really need.

Use illuminating cream products…

Liquid illuminators are a great essential, as they give you a dewy look that compliments your tan perfectly. Pack a cappuccino-coloured illuminator, as this can be used as a bronzer, highlighter and eye shadow, which will make your beauty bag a lot lighter. You’re also a lot less likely to sweat off creamy make up products as well, which makes them even more of a bonus when out in the heat.
